Loading... Please wait...A common question from customers when purchasing a dog ID tag from us is, what information should I have engraved on my tag?
The Control of Dogs Order 1992 states that any dog in a public place must wear a collar with the name and address of its owner engraved or written on it, or engraved on a connecting dog ID tag. Postcodes and telephone numbers are optional, but very much advisable.
There are some exceptions to this rule and these are outlined below:
Remember: You can be fined upto £5,000 if your dog is found in a public place without wearing any identifying information.
There are many different ways to display the correct information on your dog's ID tag and a lot of this is down to personal preference. Some people feel adding their dog's name to a tag is useful, while others may feel this is a negative should a dog be stolen. Often it can be difficult to display a full address as space is limited, but a house number and postcode can be used instead as this will identify the street name.
